“All experience is an arch wherethrough gleams that untravelled world whose margin fades for ever and for ever when I move.” – Alfred Lord Tennyson

This week’s Saturday challenge on partner Susan and my alternate site was ARCH.
The Gateway Arch, a 630 foot ( 192 m tall) monument located in St. Louis Missouri, is stainless steel and was built in the form of a weighted catenary arch ( a curve formed by a wire, rope, or chain hanging freely from two points and forming a U shape).

It is the world’s tallest arch and Missouri’s tallest accessible building.
Considered to be the world’s tallest man-made structure in the Western Hemisphere it was officially dedicated to the American people and is commonly referred to as “The Gateway to the West.
This popular tourist attraction is showing signs of wear and tear on its shiny exterior.
This is what is being done to inspect its exterior skin.
Very interesting. 😀

Thanks Cee. This isn’t the job for me.

I’m so glad it’s not the job for you, at our age the insurance premium would be rather high! 🙂

At our age I too would have to wear a couple adult diapers to keep from polluting the ground below.

Oh, my goodness, GC! The stuff of nightmares to this heights-phobic. But what a stunning monument.

If you go to You Tube Tish you will discover that there is an internal mini shuttle that takes people to the top of the arch. Quite impressive but scary from outside.

Amazing technology-wise, but just thinking of it, gives me the wobbles.
