He’s fighting the Grinchmas crunch

“The Grinch hated Christmas – the whole Christmas season… It could be, perhaps, that his shoes were too tight…the most likely reason of all… that his heart was two sizes too small.”

Wednesday’s Challenge on Susan and my alternate site was CHRISTMAS SPIRIT

Sometimes it seems the Grinch tends to raise it ugly head and throws a monkey wrench into the Christmas spirit of fun, sharing and goodwill.

This year the folks at the Callingwood Safeway outlet in north Edmonton have momentarily suspended their employees in various departments from displaying their ginger bread house competition.

Last year employees in a number of the store’s departments conducted their house building contest which sparked interest in many store patrons who were able to vote for their favorite edible display.

Recent store retirements and changes in many personnel has cancelled this event for this year. I asked a number of store employees if the event will be held next year.

Their unanimous answer was “yes” after management and staff discuss the matter.

My friend Luke ( featured above) enjoys wearing a different festive Christmas theme each day to work. He starts this merriment crusade on December 1st and runs the fun campaign until New Year’s Day.

He told me that “over the years customers to his department look forward to my  festive garb”.

Hopefully his Christmas spirit and resolve will not diminish and that next year the store’s Halloween pumpkin display will also be presented.
