“If you look the right way you can see that the whole world is a garden.” – Frances Hodgson Burnett.
Wednesday’s Challenge on partner Susan and my alternate site was GARDENS.
I recently discovered that a botanical garden is more than the mere collection and display of various plants, shrubs and flowers. That was the extent of my knowledge regarding this type of garden.
A recent visit to the Aga Khan Botanical Garden located near Devon Alberta changed my conception for the better. It is a cultural center for the residents and offers exciting photo opportunities for those visitors meandering down the many trails offered there.
The garden maintained and owned by the University of Alberta features secluded forest paths, granite and limestone terraces, still pools that reflect the prairie sky and a waterfall that tumbles over textured stone.
Fruit orchards extend around a large Calla Pond, and the garden contains more than 25,000 trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals and wetland plants, selected for fragrance, beauty and the ability to thrive in Alberta’s northern climate.
Alberta Lt.-Gov Lois Mitchell, Alberta Premier Rachel Notley and His Highness the Aga Khan officially inaugurated the Aga Khan Garden, Alberta on Oct. 16, 2018.

It was quite the experience to walk about the grounds and enjoy the sunny weather and the picturesque setting. The flowers had not started to bloom but in a short time will be in blossoming.

That’s wonderful. My flowers were in bud when I woke up. With the heat, and a thunderstorm, they are fully opened up 🥀⚘
