“The only thing that scares me more than space aliens is the idea that there aren’t any space aliens. We can’t be the best that creation has to offer. I pray we’re not all there is. If so, we’re in big trouble.”―

Last Saturday’s Challenge on partner Susan and my alternate site was the word ALIEN.
Sir Winston Churchill Square in Edmonton Alberta is the site currently presenting a display entitled Fantastic Planet in which gigantic illuminated humanoids are pointing an extended index figure down towards the ground as passersby gaze up to appreciate the enormity and size of the art exhibit.
These bigger than real life entities have started popping up around Edmonton’s downtown at secret locations. They measure 12 meters tall and 13 meters long when lying down.
The exhibit is part of a Downtown Spark Project intended to highlight exciting experiences that can be enjoyed safely around the city.
The inspiration for this idea came from the 1973 Czech/French film “Fantastic Planet which offered a story set in an unimaginably distant future, in a world populated by “gargantuan humanoids.”
The exhibit by Amanda Parer is part of “Explore Edmonton’s Downtown “Spark project.
There are six such robust figures in the exhibit.
