Sharing is always a two way street

“Christmas is the spirit of giving without a thought of getting. It is happiness because we see joy in people. It is forgetting self and finding time for others. — Thomas S. Monson

This Salvation Army donation site tries to bring a little bit of joy to all passersby by using interesting characters to put a smile on everyone’s face this holiday Season. The man holding the fuzzy creature told me he alters his fun animals for the weekend.

This week’s Wednesday Challenge on partner Susan and my alternate site was SHARING.

It has been a tough year of mask wearing, observing social distancing and frequent hand washing. The increasing number of infections and deaths has been mind boggling. COVID is alive and well.

But the spirit and the generosity and the joy of this coming season cannot be thwarted by the presence of this global pandemic.

Although fears and suspicions and doubt and cynicism we all have experienced this past year will have its place in human history we still have to remember that love and hope and optimism are the true hallmark of the season.

Near the West Edmonton Mall indoor skating rink a Salvation Army donation site has been set up to not only receive donations but also to offer a small smile and hope for all those people who may not be feeling the rush of past Christmases.

But sharing and caring is the basic block of humanity’s DNA.

With that notion in mind remember to allow your caring spirit to overwhelm and conquer the COVID monster.

Merry Christmas to one and all from Susan and myself.

Stay safe. Social distance. Continue to care for one another.
