“A man has made at least a start on discovering the meaning of human life when he plants shade trees under which he knows full well he will never sit. — Elton Trueblood.

Trees are never devoid of life. All sorts of critters ( two footed, four footed and flying visitors) at one time or another make a tree their perch if not their home.

These youngsters and a few of their friends ( not shown -they flew the coop) had turned tree into their temporary club house ( a minimalist view) and had spent the greater part of an hour there probably discussing homework or other non related school topics.

I am quite certain that many of us as children had befriended such a tree during times of familial stress or whenever we wanted to be far from the maddening crowd.

For me each tree had a special character and appeal that suited my many childhood moods. At one time the tree was a fort while another day I merely enjoyed swaying high above the ground away from the cares of the world.

In the post COVID 19  virus world children have a lot more “adult” related stresses and concerns facing them. Thankfully tress are there to help imaginative children cope with their new reality.

“I think that I shall never see A poem lovely as a tree” – Joyce Kilmer.
