Hoarders beware: no return policy

“Panic causes tunnel vision. Calm acceptance of danger allows us to more easily assess the situation and see the options. — Simon Sinek

This person is open for business in British Columbia Canada as she labels herself an unofficial toilet paper distributor. You have to admire her “go for it” attitude even though it is a truly crappy one at this time.

During the anal stage, Freud believed that the primary focus of the libido was on controlling bladder and bowel movements.

The major conflict at this stage is toilet training–the child has to learn to control his or her bodily needs. Developing this control leads to a sense of accomplishment and independence.

That being said it is almost funny to observe how anal a lot of panic stricken shoppers have become about adequately covering their assets with a more than generous supply of toilet paper at a time when the CORVID 19  virus has the capability to snuff out a goodly number of the world’s population.

There seems to be a lot more media hype about this fact of life than about attempts to contain, isolate and create a vaccination to end its scourge.

Earlier today in Edmonton  Alberta it was reported that a senior citizen was knocked down by another customer as she was trying to purchase a multiple pack of toilet paper for herself. Details are sketchy. The action itself totally deplorable.

It should also be noted that a number of marketing chains in this country are warning hoarders that their purchases are final and they will not be able to get reimbursed for the amounts of paper products they so avidly purchased .

Safeway stores in Edmonton are also placing “two per customer” limitations on what one manager described to me as a “highly contested” product.

When will folks get their heads out of their butts and realize that they are not alone and that their anal fears are depriving fellow citizens of the right to secure products for themselves and their family’s use.?

Let’s wipe the slate clean and realize that this hoarding will not be rewarded down the line.

  1. I love the humour in this article – if we could only spread it around, perhaps our world right now would be a more pleasant place.

I have sympathy for all governments, it must be extremely difficult putting the right measures in place at exactly the right time. They are all between a rock and a hard place. Not all will get it right!

I feel very proud at the way our PM and his ministers are handling the Coronavirus. Each afternoon at five o’clock Boris holds a live televised briefing and answers questions from the Press.

I feel certain that the choices he has made and the measures that have been put in place at the various stages of the virus have been the right ones.

The progress of the creation of a vaccine has been shared, and we have been given information about how hospitalised patients are being medically treated; a trial drug is now being used on at least one of the patients.

Keep your chin up Gerry, positive thinking and keep sharing the humour! 🙂

  2. I’m not sure if Freud would have described it this way but; the world seems to be populated with too many complete arseholes who don’t give a shit about anyone else but them selves! It seems to be a very sad reflection on the population today, whatever happened to the wartime spirit of us all being in it together that I remember my parents talking about?

    • Agree with you totally. We might all come together if there was a physical war and men were being conscripted to go to the front line to face the enemy. But the COVID 19 virus knows no limits, limittions or geographic borders. The front line and the rear are melded into one and the same. Men. women, children and seniors are all out combatants in this gruelling scenario. Guess we are all becoming citizen soldiers in this battle.Thank you for commenting.

    • That would have been too early Lisa. Let the profits roll in and the product roll out ( in this instance) toilet paper) and THEN let there be a government pronouncement against hoarding. Now that makes cents. 🙂
