Tasty spin on gingerbread houses

“I love the scents of winter! For me, it’s all about the feeling you get when you smell pumpkin spice, cinnamon, nutmeg, gingerbread and spruce.”– Taylor Swift

Last Wednesday’s Word Prompt on partner Susan and my alternate site, Weekly Prompts, was HOLIDAY TREATS.

I decided to take a different viewpoint on the challenge and contacted my friend Al Maneer who is the supervisor in charge of the bakery at a Safeway Canada outlet in North Edmonton.

This year due to construction currently taking place in that store’s main entrance he was unable to construct his gingerbread house as he did last year and lent the plans to the baking department at a nearby outlet.

The results are presented in the photo above which Mr. Meneer provided.

Gone are the days when wicked witches inhabited gingerbread houses and preyed on young, unsuspecting victims lured by the appeal of the sweet treats that embellished the house in which they lived.

Today creative and imaginative bakers can elevate the Grimm notion of the house into one of artistic beauty and visual appeal.

Thanks Al for the photo and the creative take on the house.

    • It is that Susie. The baker at this location modified the size of the house by a few inches. Overall a job very well done. Merry Christmas to you and yours!!
