People watching: art or challenge?

“Introverts enjoy people-watching. Extroverts enjoy people watching.” ― Jomny Sun, Everyone’s a Aliebn When Ur a Aliebn Too

“Hey, what’s going on back there?”

This weekend’s photo challenge on my partner Susan and my other site , Weekly Prompts, is PEOPLE.

People watching can be fun but you have to be careful as to how you go about it unless the people outside are creating enough of a ruckus to capture and hold your undivided attention — at least short term.

Let it be stated as true that many parents and their children have a bumpier road to travel than other more conservative families. The straight and narrow path can turn out to be the rough and tumble one.

I was watching television and sipping my cup of coffee when I heard a commotion near my patio doors. It continued for a few minutes before I decided to investigate the source.

I opened the drapes and noticed this youngster’s parents struggling to correctly arrange their child’s buggy much to its total surprise and apparent agitation.

The parents told me that they had parked the buggy near a shady tree and were trying to arrange the back compartment of their child’s stroller but unfortunately ran into a bit of a compartmentalized snag and their stealthy rearranging inadvertently woke the youngster up.

The parents were working quickly to minimize the disruption but the child was looking around to see what was happening around it.

Merely singing “Rock a bye baby” might not work in this situation. – gc
