Day dreaming under a shady tree

“A daydream is a meal at which images are eaten. Some of us are gourmets, some gourmands, and a good many take their images precooked out of a can and swallow them down whole, absent-mindedly and with little relish.” ― W.H. Aude

Sunday was a very hot and muggy day. Both the temperatures and the humidity levels were high and just about off the charts.

I noticed this guy pacing about a nearby street corner making a cell phone call to someone.

After a few minutes of animated activity he put his phone away, found a cool and shaded spot on the lawn and fell fast asleep.

I was concerned for his health and safety until I heard him loudly snoring in his temporary resting spot.

Ten minutes later a vehicle honked its horn near him.

He roused himself from his mid day nap , stretched a bit and then entered the car.

His “Uber” ride had finally arrived and took him to his destination. –  gc

  1. There can’t be many places these days where a person can feel safe enough to fall asleep alone in a public place unless you’re a homeless soul with nothing worth stealing! Then again you’re Canada not America
