The world is aware of President Donald J. Trumps distrust of everyone and his extreme paranoia and belief in unfounded conspiracy theories.
It is therefore possible and probable that the big guy had his crack forensic teams scan and fluoroscope and analyze the lengthy note before he ever opened it and read it?
The meeting was an example of the oriental mind-set meeting the occidental and at times with Trump’s “accidental” mind-set there can be no doubt that the encounter was met with apprehension.
Trump and his advisors indicated that these meetings with the North Koreans will not be settled on a short-term basis. That is true.
If you are old enough to remember the Paris Peace talks regarding the Viet Nam conflict The United States looked forward to an early negotiated settlement and their diplomats and advisors booked hotel rooms at swank and expensive hotels in that city.
The Paris Peace Accords of 1973 intended to establish peace in Vietnam and an end to the Vietnam War. It ended direct U.S. military combat, and temporarily stopped the fighting between North and South Vietnam.
The North Vietnam diplomats knew the talks could go on for years and so they leased houses thus enabling them to settle in for the long diplomatic haul.
Can we really blame Kim Jong Un for being skeptical of the peace resolve offered by Trump? In some ways his cynicism may be justified.
The way the Trump dynasty treats its trading partners and allies is atrocious and at times borders on the down right illegal.
Treating Canada, Mexico and Germany as an enemy shows that he is not really playing with a full mental deck of cards. Who treats a trading partner like an enemy of the state and then imposes stiff tariffs on them?
His current theme “Make America Great Again” might be the old man’s longing for the pre Depression days when the country was isolated from the rest of the world and bath tub gin and armed gangsters roamed the streets of the country.
Trump might be accused of experiencing pre mature anticipation in which he is putting the cart before the horse and ending up rear ended by his own questionable political ambitions.
All is not lost though. If the talks with North Korea fall through there is the upcoming chat with Russian President Vladimir Putin which will prove beneficial to his country.
Trying to talk sense with Trump is like beating a dead horse. The exercise is exhausting and you discover that it was totally not worthwhile. – gc
