Snowmen assembly half baked but fun
“It snowed last year too: I made a snowman and my brother knocked it down and I knocked my brother down and then we had tea.” ― Dylan Thomas.

Yesterday was Halloween. It was also the day that the area received a fair amount of snow. During the day the children at a nearby school got busy and formed independent work groups to build the biggest snowman possible. However when I looked around the schoolyard a short time later I noticed that the overly enthusiastic groups were all building a massive base for their snowmen. Over time a few of the more insightful youngsters realized that gigantic snowballs were the best they could do. The yard is now festooned with an array of snowmen bottoms. Oh well. The kids were having fun amid the chaos more so than the current White House. — gc

Team work, always to be admired. I can’t believe there is snow so early it’s not even winter, it’s autumn!

Thank you so much. It seems these days that comments from the past seem to apply aptly to a crumbling social reality.

You should ask your grocer if they carry it. It is a winter squash “Turban Squash”. Maybe there is no demand for it or maybe your grocer thought it was a bad squash. Grocers do tend to pick and choose.

I’ll ask the next time I’m in Safeway.

Check with the manager of the department. He/she might not think there is a demand. 🙂

I wouldn’t call one squash a demand : ) I asked about Macintosh apples one time years ago. My childhood had an apple orchard with macs and transparents. So I probably will ask but expect nothing. : )

What you could do is : (1) see if your local newspaper would like to do a Sunday food feature on the use of the “turban squash”. or (2) write to Safeway head office and tell them your request. Either way you will have done something positive. 🙂
